So my wife had been using the car, and today I have just done a school run and come back hoping to go and add more fuel. However just checked and it's only 1 mile left of fuel. The fuel station according to Google is 0.6 miles will I be able to get there? Anyone else been in a similar position as debating if I should take the chance and drive to the fuel station?

My Son has a Fiesta and yesterday he went to work (approx 8 miles away) with 0 miles (yes ZERO) then Ford picked up his car and took it to their garage (9 miles away) and then returned it to him at work, all with 0 miles in the tank according to his display, so my guess would be that you will be OK, but dont blame me if you run out of fuel and break down!

Guy on U Tube tested this out, can`t find the vid but the outcome was when it shows 0 miles left you still have approx 30 miles left in the tank in reserve.

My previous car (focus) would have a light come on supported by a beep when it showed 50 miles left in the tank. I wonder if there was another 30 miles remaining after that! In the distant past I drove miles on an empty tank, but was caught short once, with unpleasant results, so I learnt my lesson!

We've had several Fords with this system, they are notoriously pessimistic (which is of course a good thing). If you watch them, you'll sometimes find that they'll drop, a mile a time, when you've done nowhere near a mile.

I trust you'll be having a word with the Mrs though
