Topic: Zetec Seats Fraying Posted: 17 Aug 2010 at 9:38am |
Hello aaman and daverogers.
Have you managed to speak with Ford's about the fraying issue yet? The local dealers have advised that they are willing to put yet another set of covers on, but I am currently waiting for a call from Ford's as I'm not happy with this solution. I'll let you know what they say.

Hello aaman and I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had much luck. Have you contacted Fords Customer Relationship Centre on 0845 841 1111? They should at the very least log your call and get the dealers to send any pictures across of your seats. Is there another dealer nearby that you could go to instead? I can't understand why your dealer won't help, as they would get the work if Ford's agree to change the seats etc. I think this is why my dealer is more than willing to help, although they do seem very helpful which is fortunate. Like yourself, I would not be happy with this reply and would raise it with the MD if you keep getting fobbed off. Failing that ask for a test drive of a Titanium, take it home and rip out the seats . I have now also raised issues with the gear gaitor splitting and all the alloys blistering, so hoping to hear something soon.

Noticed the same on mine though it hasn't got any worse in 8 months, car is 20 months old, knowing how poor my local dealer is thought I'd try those Clothe defuzzers, works a treat.
Just an idea.

Hello c130jtechie and thanks for the idea. The dealer has suggested something similar, albeit by cutting the strands off. It's nice to know that there are a few of us suffering the same problem and I'm still convinced that this is an issue for a lot of Zetec Kuga's, so I hope Mr Ford will address the issue. I'm still waiting for a reply, which is now eating into my warranty time.

Hello aaman (and to all who this may apply to).
I've just spoken to Fords Customer Relationship Centre (relating to my complaint) and they have advised that they will always log a case for any call they receive. They will then ask the owner to take the vehicle into the local garage so that they can assess the concerns and then forward any info/pictures to the Centre for investigation. Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis, however, if they spot a trend then this will be taken into account during any investigation. Although it would appear that there is a fault with the quality for some of the seat covers with the Zetec, unfortunately not enough complaints have been raised with Ford's for them to take note. If you do have any concerns relating to the seat covers, no matter how old your vehicle is, then please contact the Fords Customer Relationship Centre on 0845 841 1111.
I personnaly believe that the only way Ford's can resolve the quality issue is by providing me with a Titanium with the half leather seats, or better still with the full leather. I'm sure they will be more than happy to accommodate such a request .
Thanks.

Thanks bobuptown for the tip. Would that be the seats with the trays or without?? Sorry, couldn't resist.
I have just sold my old sofa, but maybe I should have replaced the front seats with it. That way I could have had enough room for the grandparents, albeit with slightly awkward gear changes.
