Topic: Zetec Seats Fraying Posted: 28 Jul 2010 at 12:06pm |

Hi. I haven't heard back yet, but as they have already replaced the covers twice, I won't be accepting this as an excuse. If the car/seat covers were 5-10 years old then fair enough, but a couple of months definately not!! I've never had this problem on any other cars.

I forgot to say that the local garage has not seen this issue before on any of there other Ford cars, so surely it's a fault (but they just won't admit it). I plan to keep the car for a few years and if it's showing signs of wear after a few months, then I'm guessing the covers won't last the duration.

That's not too bad considering it's £200 to replace a bit of the seat cover for the fabric ones. Maybe Fords should be installing leather if they can't get the fabric ones to last?? I'll chase the garage on Friday if I haven't heard anything from them.

It looks that way, although I note Scissors posted one quite some time ago ( http://www.kugaownersclub.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1197&KW=fray&PID=10236&title=seats-fraying#10236) but not sure if they still check the site. If it's standard wear and tear then I'm surprised it hasn't affected anyone else. Maybe we're just too fussy.

I've just spoken to the Service Manager at the local Ford garage and he hasn't heard anything yet, but also stressed that he has never seen this happen before on any cars and agrees that it must be a fault, albeit one that doesn't affect every Zetec. He's going to chase Fords for a response and will contact me tomorrow.

Hello daverogers and welcome to the club. How many Kuga owners do you think we need, to get this taken seriously? Is three enough?? I think we may need to all exchange dealer details, so they can talk amongst themselves and with Fords. My vehicle has been dealt with by Lookers (Ford), Sudbury in Suffolk. The Service Manager is well aware of the situation, having already replaced the covers twice. He's now considering whether to replace them a third time, no doubt only for me to return after a couple of months .
