Having just collected our Kuga from Gordons of Bolton, I'll try to be objective in reviewing them....

The Bad
  • The car was late. Around 6 weeks late. Ordered December, built January, should have been delivered EOF Jan, finally delivered 2nd week in March.
  • The dealer-fit parking sensors didn't use proper Ford switchgear, so there's a nasty looking button for it. It's not drilled though, so gonna move that myself or replace with the proper switch near the cup holders (anyone know the Ford part number for the proper switch?).
The Good
  • Damn cheap - over £3K cheaper than our local dealer. And I didn't have to haggle with them to get the discount, they were up-front about it.
  • Pleasant to deal with - no pressure. Mike & Diane are down to earth and honest (build date was accurate, delay's in delivery to dealers seem to be a general problem with Ford).
  • They didn't charge us for the front/rear parking sensors.
  • When we left a CD in the loan car, they posted it back to us.
  • They gave us a teddy bear in a Ford jumper (I kid you not).
In mitigation, when the car was late, they honoured the p/x price even though we'd stuck an extra 1.5K on the mileage (holiday road trip). When it reached the point that the p/x was gonna need tax, MOT and a several thousand £ balloon paying off (because the Kuga was so late arriving), they took the p/x early, settled the balloon and loaned us a car for a few weeks. So, no serious complaint really (plus we wound up with the new reg.).

All in all, they're not a flash dealership (coming from owning a BMW for the last 3 years, it's quite refreshing to buy a car where you get your tea in a Garfield mug rather than your Latte in a glass), but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. We won't be using them for servicing (we actually live in Brighton, so it's a 5 hour drive from here), so no comment about the service department.

Did I mention we got a Teddy Bear thrown in?
