lol...it might be true for a strange variant of otis lift that im not aware of...but its certainly not standard.

99% of lifts have 'car prefference' key switches in the push station (look out for em next time your in the shopping center!) when the key is turned it basically ignores any landing calls, takes the car out of group if there are multiple lifts and gives the user in the car, prefference of where they want to go...it also keeps the doors open for lugging in cleaners trollies or heavy stuff..

ive known of certain keystokes with combinations of buttons, but mainly from italian/spanish package lift companys...usually to access service floors for maintainence guys etc...most use keys or swipecards tho ;)

...oh..and pressing the button several times or holding it in doesnt actually make a lift come faster (prob the most common misconception!) ....if anything it may re-allicate the call from the last time you pressed it (meaning any other users on other floors would skip in front of you) or even make the control system think the button is faulty/vandalised and therfore ignore calls to that floor! Wink

I guess you know the secret codes to the lifts then?  eg. I read that in an Otis lift, by holding the close doors button whilst selecting your floor took you straight there, ignoring other floor requests?  Hseful for maids etc.  Or is that bs?

Dave.

That's some scary looking machinery Sparkz. Thumbs Up Mind you don't run over your Kuga, tyre marks on the roof will take some polishing out. LOL

Sparkz,

Bet the neighbours love you LOL seriously though hat's off to anyone who can restore things back to their former glory. Always wished I could do such things but don't have the skills or as my wife would say, the patience. I will no longer gripe about the price of Kuga tyres. What does a set of them cost for your trucks ?

The last photo makes your Kuga look tiny LOL

Regards

John

As ive been floating about a while...asking loads of Kuga related questions....i guess i should rally do an introduction now as my Kuga has turned up, as i always hate it when people dont do a decent intro on the site i run - www.elite4x4.co.uk (im sure not every kuga owners cuppa...however some might be interested?)...so here goes!

My names Garry...and im an alcoholic....wait, thats not right..wrong forum (actually its a lie as i never touch the stuff!)...erm.....well im 31, served my aprentiship in the lift industry however have evolved in to technical support now which is sorta lift related..but more in the power/motor control side of things...always had an interest in electronics, fixing stuff and not listening to people when im told 'you cant' LOL

hobbies wise, well ive always enjoyed cars...so with having a mainly office baised job now, i like to tinker....done a load of DIY/Landscaping/building work to my home...and in doing that i sorta bought an old Hilux pickup truck...which, well.....was a slippy slope in to 4x4s.. lifted it, big wheels bigger engine... and generally made a capable offroad truck

well...that was sorta the start as since then the hilux fleet has grown and many hours or work have resulted in this...which is a bit bigger and is powered by a 5.7L V8 Chevy 350 engine (sorry ozone layer!)

at that point i sorta relalised i couldn't really go much bigger whilst keeping road legal...so im currently building a quarry toy, another hilux Unimog axles, 50ish" floatations big V8 and a load of time...(lots more fab work required as im sure the engineering folk will note!)

Trucks aside, im also in to car restoration....currently working on a 79 triumph spitfire and an old Mini...(both nearly finished...just gotta pluck up the couage for MOTs as its been years since either of em saw one!)

so....in doing the above...i sorta found the Lexus IS220 i was driving about in...didnt really lend its self to carrying truck parts, towing, or maintaining any real fuel economy...so i bought and just took delivery of the Kuga!

which pretty much takes us up to date...Kuga is settling in well altho only had it 24 hours so really just getting used to it....

cheers again for the help and advice on the Kuga thus far, i found it was a vehicle that not a lot of people knew anything about....i dont know, or know anyone else that knows anyone else with a Kuga..so the information obtained here has been a great help!

Cheers,

Sparkz
