Topic: Kuga Product info Update !!! Posted: 15 Mar 2010 at 3:23am |

As a Mustang owner, I have some experience in looking closely at US
built Ford vehicles, as I am Head Judge as well for the Mustang Owners
Club of Great Britain.
The fit and fitment of US built cars has improved, and continues to
improve over time. The influence of the European Fords has moved things
in the right way in the US.
The Ford Edge has shown that, the Ford Escape does not match the build
quality of the Kuga, so it's no surprise it could possibly be replaced
by the Kuga.
A 5.0 V8 Cammer engined Kuga would be a lot of fun.

Well if there was a Mustang lump in the Kuga, better it was it's engine, as apart from the bodywork, it has nothing to offer. And after all that said, i didn't want a Kuga for blistering performance. RSMarco has a point, wouldn't be in a rush to by a new build from the US within the first year of starting production. If we're seeing the odd wield missing now, you could imagine the wheels falling off as it rolls off the transport at the dealers. Pity we couldn't see production moved back here.....just for the British pride point of view.

Harley are still behind the likes of Triumph and the European and Japanese companies in terms of quality.
Having said all that, I think their muscle cars and the big Harleys are brilliant bits of kit, thrown together badly, but still brilliant. Great to look at and listen to |
That's one of the reasons why I brought this up.
No disrespect to the folk over the pond but I wouldn't really want a car from a new production line in america. Would have to wait at least a year to see how the build quality is..?

"Ford will move the production of Kuga crossover to America. This decision comes following the depreciation of the dollar against the euro. Also, they will enjoy the benefits of dollar depreciation against euro. According to journalists from Bloomberg, Kuga will “move” to the plant in Louisville in October next year (2010), following a total of 80,000 units to take the road to Europe."

Scary thought that. Look at the build quality of the mustangs, beautiful cars outside, engines a dream, but it's like the interior was an after thought. Well if the Kuga becomes an 'escape', what else will change? Bigger cup holders? Places to hold your take aways? Will they still build in RHD or, like the Mustang, move to only LHD and expect the overseas buyers to pay more for a conversion. Errrrr......wish I could use those emotion things.....mine would be the red faced angry chap shaking a very angry fist at the yanks!!

Is the plan to move production of European specification Kugas out of Europe completely? I would be surprised if that was to happen, unless the volumes here are so small it is uneconomical to have two manufacturing centres.
