Topic: Knocking noise from rear passenger door Posted: 15 Mar 2010 at 6:40pm |

The Kuga is on it's way back, the advice from the technicians is that they have had to apply some lubricant to the strikers and lock. This type of knocking was evident on the old Fiesta and a KA model.
They were able to reproduce it straight away, and believe they have fixed it.
So my journey home will hopefully tell me if this is the case.

Helllo,
Thanks for posting result, can you tell me where they applied the lubricant, ie is the knocking noise coming from the boot door or rear off side door, is it case of just applying a bit of grease I can do myself, or did they do other things, therefore a garage job?
thanks

I believe it's probably both doors, most likely the driver. I will check in daylight tomorrow, as I expect by the time I get home it will be dark.
The reason why I always think it's best to get Ford to do it, is bcause if it's a short term solution, they are not off the hook, if they fail to solve it during the warranty period, whether it's their 12 months 'most things' covered, or their additional 24 months whereby they warrant fewer parts of the car.......
It also is important to log all defects so :
a) Ford know about them b) It strengthens your case in the event of a car which is not of merchantable quality c) In order for your dealer to address your concerns it needs to know about them

Hello mark,
yes will agree with what you have said, thanks.
I will get mine booked in when they do the rear lights, which are being replaced for the much talked about condensation problems.
Mike.
