LOL - just discussing the finer points of remapping the TDCi engine in order to gain more BHP.
2 reputable tuners offer upgrades that give 155BHP and 180 BHP respectively.
The problem arises with the Diesel Particulate Filter on the TDCi which ensures you see very little or no smoke from the exhaust. Obviously with a remapped car there is more fuel burnt which in turn pushes more smoke particles through the above mentioned DPF filter. Even running a standard TDCi, the DPF will clog up and need a regeneration which involves you driving the car around in a lower gear (at a higher rev) until you get a heat build up on the DPF and it "self cleans" (read the log book for info)
All this is based upon the tolerances set by the standard Ford power of 136BHP, now Superchips are aware of the DPF and have designed their 155 BHP remap so that it falls within the tolerances that will allow the DPF to work effectively and deal with the excess smoke created by running more power.
However with the Code Red map being more aggressive 25bhp more than the Superchips one at 180BHP, it, to this point, produces more that the DPF can handle and falls outside the tolerances for the DPF to operate efficiently and so has led to problems with DPF failure and believe me - if you knacker one of these its not a cheap repair - around the £2k mark if I am correct.
I'd go with the Superchips one if it was me!
Sorry to hijack your thread Griff but once again I would be interested to know if Code Red (Wolf/Gary) have solved the DPF probs yet mate!

Jon thanks for the input there fella always helpfull to get a couple of views on such subjects for sure That way people can make their own personal choices.
I will take your points up with Gary mate and see what reply I back from him when I speak to him.
Having sold my RS last weekend I had the Bluefin on it and Superchips are happy to reflash and load the TDCI map to it for free should I choose to do so. I have asked Gary to look into the Code Red for me with the Power Graphs etc for me to look at.
If I decide to stick with the Bluefin then I will still be paying him a visit to get a lot of the other mods fitted :)
I have already ordered for painting a spare set of grills, slam panel and fog surrounds all to be done in Panther Black.
Keep the post going guys it helps us all
Ive been told today collection early April.........................

Ok have spoken to Gary and here is his reply for you
Hi Griff Yes we experianced some DPF issues, on certain early cars (it appears that Ford use more that one type of supplier/DPF on the Kuga) with our intial 180 map. However Code Red updated the map sometime ago and nows runs a little less boost/bhp (now approx 170bhp) - It sells fine in Germany with no problems that I am aware of. If you where after max power an uprated DPF would work? Regards

Re your wheels headache. Have you considered doing something with the 19s that come with the Individual Pack? IMO they're pretty good looking wheels and I reckon getting them finished in Titanium or Black they would look pretty good against the Black bodywork.
Good luck with the project!

Its an idea Malph, my usual guy at the Wheel Specialist could do them in either colour not sure what they would look like though may have to photoshop them onto a Kuga to see what they look like.
I am leaning towards a set of these on 18" rims though............... WHat yer reckon?

The Kuga is a chunky motor with fairly soft, smooth curves and profiles on the wings and roofline. I just wonder if those wheels, cool as they are, might be at odds (bit too sharp and angular) with the lines of the body.
Don't know whether it's possible to Photoshop the wheels into a Kuga pic (I'm not that familiar with the software); might be worth a go.
Just found this sight, AEZ Wheels. Got it's own configurator to put their wheels on your car, you can even select the car colour and wheel size. Great fun! There must be UK Stockists for these wheels.
