For what its worth and in contadition to Fords "its secure get over it" stance. I have just moved from a 2010 S-max Titanium with easyfuel and its external flap was locked by the Central Locking. I would immagine the same applies to the Galaxy

I am not too concerned as from the post regarding the mechanics of the system it appears that would-be vandals/thieves need to equip themseves with specialist tools and spend some time bypassing the inbuilt features of the system.

The plastic filler flap on the s-max would easily be pulled  off and the car damaged so it only acts as a minor deterrant anyway.

My previous 3 cars (all S-Max I know 4 in a row) have all had external covers but no locking plug. I am not convinced locking flap is any real improvement unless you also go for locking bung as well an that defeats the whole "easy fuel" concept.

I'll go with the above post, if they want your fuel the plastic lockable cover isn't going to stop any determined thief. What you may get is bodywork damage as they prise the flap off.
Company I worked for some years ago stopped putting locking fuel caps on the vans as they were being crowbared off resulting in a new fuel tank as well as the loss of fuel.

x2 Can't agree more ^

The system works well, is efficient and if the scrotes want your fuel or anything enough, they'll smash and damage or eventually HIAB it if they want it.

Have been getting a lot of fuel tanks drilled with battery drill to get fuel lately so i dont think easyfuel is a problem if they want it doesnt matter what security you have, better than new fuel tank

Hi, First fill up with new car, not a pleasant experience. Pump nozzle in/fuel in no problem. Then could not for the life of me get the nozzle back out, held everyone up at the forecourt. Yes I waited the 10 secs and slightly lifted nozzle as per manual. Still no go, it appeared jammed there. Tried pulling, twisting to no effect. After about five minutes was about to call dealer, when I tried again and there appeared to be a vacum release and nozzle was free. I don't think I pushed it in too far, I will be over careful next time as I do not want to go through that hassle again. Easy fuel system, in your dreams
Loving everything else about it so far.

Hi Big Five,

This has happened to me a few times, I thought it was just me being cack handed and trying to pull it out at the wrong angle. It has usually freed up within a couple of minutes or less, I have never had to wait for 5 minutes. Must be some kind of safety feature, my fault for being a low tech driver in a high tech car.

  Cheers, bayman

I haven't experienced this - how far 'in' are you managing to get the nozzle? I can never manage to get it in more than about half-way?

Cheers.

Hi, It was my first fill and I thought it went in only a couple of notches. I will watch next time to see how far I need to go.

Cheers.

Yes it's true if they want it they will get it.
The same could be said about leaving your boot open.
But what is happening is that cars with no security whatsoever, ie Kuga, are being targeted in car parks.  The scumbags will walk past all the locked ones.
Why go the bother of drilling or crowbaring when all you need is a syphon tube.
It's a total disgrace that these caps don't lock down with the central locking.
With fuel prices rising continually Ford's making it easier for the thieves?
