Ive been asked to put up this question...
My bro inlaw wants to know what does the switch on the clutch actually control on the pressing down before you press the start button...

Does it have an effect upon the starting up off the car and how !

He thinks his is either sticking or going.....

The switch is obviously working if your starter motor operates.
Kuga Titanium X Sport 180 Manual(AWD), Magnetic (with a few extras). March 2016.
Makes you want to drive it, though not necessarily buy it.

The switch is there to tell the vehicle ECU that the clutch has been depressed and the engine can now be started.
Safety reasons only. If the switch is faulty, the engine will not turn over.
I've had one time when the service has reinstalled the carpet a little incorrect, so I had to use much more force to have it work properly. After re-servicing all was ok.
