why dont they just fire up the engine and apply the quick defrost button?
ECU logs time anyway, all it needs is a flag to check if the car is out of gear & handbrake applied and it wakes it up but keeps the car locked - id guess there would be some self checking that wouldnt allow the car to be driven (monitor speed - if equils greater than 5mph - it cuts out) to stop the tea leafs! |

Hello all, I'm new here but have been reading through all of your posts. I'm trying to find out if it's possible to buy a 'Park heater' from eBay and have it fitted? I know that they are not an option in the UK but does anyone know if anyone sells them and if so how much they might cost?
Thanks

Hi,
I just want to tell you about my experiences installing a pre-heater unit into my Kuga. There is of course the possibility to equip your brand new Kuga with a dieselheater from the start (and Im not talking about the one that helps to give the driver warm air once the motor is running, but a pre-heater to avoid cold weather starts). I bought a demo-Kuga, without this option. And especially here in Sweden, pre-heating your car is not only good for the environment and your economy, but also very much a comfort thing, since scraping ice from your windows every morning together with sitting in a -10 degree celsius car is not really a nice start of the day... I just had an electric pre-heater installed, including the wiring for the interior heater. I cost me about €780, so it was pretty expensive, but hopefully worth it (it is my wife who drives the car daily :) Just as a tip- however you may have to talk a bit to your service center since it is pretty rare t oinstall these jits into a Kuga as I understood it - my service center needed 4h to do it (I did only pay for 2 though but they needed to keep the car for one more day to figure out how to install everything) A disadvantage is of course, that since it is an electric heater you will need a outlet with a timer to use it, with a fuel powered pre-heater you can just set the internal timer - but thats life :) /K Edited by Klas2k - 10 Dec 2011 at 9:03am |

This one may be an 'old chestnut' but according to the ETIS build sheet my Kuga is fitted with 'Supplemental Air Heater'
All I know is warm air comes out of the fascia vents pretty quickly after moving off, no matter how cold the engine appears to be. What makes this happen? Put me out of my technical misery please !! Tuggie

This interests me as mine also lists this, but I don't get any hot air - mine takes an age to blow warm air from cold. It's in for its first service on Monday, so will get them to investigate |
