I seem to remember someone saying in another post that this is an option in Scandinavian markets.  The guide book doesn't make this clear though.  It would be useful at times in the UK!

This is a bit confusing. There are two types of auxilary heaters. My last car (VW Touran) had an auxiliary heater, a diesel fuelled unit that automatically started when the external temperature fell below a certain point and the engine temperature was cold. This is to allow the internal cabin heating to get up to temperature quicker than waiting for the engine coolant temperature to rise. I think this is standard on most diesels. The programmable electrically operated water heater also mentioned in the manual is a specific option for cold climate countries.

I already asked this question and found out its not on my Kuga, Its also not an option for the Kuga in the UK and its only available as an option in some of the colder countries.

Before I committed to buying my Kuga, I visited this Forum and read the many views, both good and bad. One of the first things I did, was to download the "Owners Manual", which I read over and over. I remember asking the Ford Dealer about the "Aux Heater" that was listed in the manual. I was told that this heater was only available in Scandanavian countries as an optional extra but could not be bought here in the UK. I did ask why and was told that it was cold and snowy up there.

I must admit I have had a few chuckles, as I drove about, thinking that this heater was not available in the "tropical UK". Perhaps Ford should take a look outside just now and reconsider the availability as an option for UK owners.

Ithink that it would be a good extra to have especially in this type of weather.

I got one in mine too. A lifesaver these days :)

Just set the timer for when I think I'll go home from work, and the car is nice and warm at that time. One thing I'm a little worried about is how it affects the battery. -20 centigrades weakens the battery quite a bit. Fortunately I can make a detour on my way home to make sure the battery get charged.

Hi all,
Been a while.

I can report that the heater works great. Has 3 separate timers so you can set for repeat on 2 times for whichever weekday combination you like, or set a third time for a one off start. However beware of use at cold temperatures since if you leave it on too long it can flatten the battery. (I am talking around -30c in this case) Easy solution that I applied was to fitt a quick connecting battery charger.
