Hi RocketRon
Going back to the OP, I don't really see much difference and kind of agree with you - some see benefits in AWD, some see benefits with 2WD but I don't think it matters if it's what you're happy with. If I had to get another Kuga I don't think I would worry if it had 2WD or AWD - I kind of worry that it's "something else to go wrong" but these days cars bristle with thousands of things that can go wrong and the Haldex 4 system seems pretty reliable...

I have experienced the AWD kicking in particularly last year in the snow. But we also have a diesel astra and this was pretty capable in the snow. A lot of it depends on how you drive (which is one major factor of how a vehicle handles snow). If the weather was so bad that I would only go out with a 4WD then to be honest I'd stay at home.

As 2 or 4wd kugas don't actually look any different (in fact some dealers can't tell) So no-one is any the wiser.

The AWD isn't permanent on, it's only when 'needed' which isn't that often, my road tax is nice and low (£165-£190)...am happy to pay it for a kuga and I'm happy with the fuel consumption. The issue is the cost per litre and my heavy right foot ...

After over a year of kuga ownership, it still makes me smile and feels special

ps
It's a Panther Black Kuga of course you've made the right choiceWink

I agree with Pennines mc - it's down to personal choice.

I bought an AWD as I believe they're a safer drive all round. Certainly found that in the past when comparing my quatro A4 Vs a 2 wheel drive one. Same experience with my 4motion Golf.

Anyway, back to personal preferences ... The current Mrs Hill suggested that if I was getting a Kuga it had better be an AWD otherwise why not get a Focus or S Max!!!! Who was I to argue? Did that before......hence the "current" Mrs Hill!!!
Electric White, TDI 163 Titanium AWD, X pack, convenience pack, appearance pack,19 inch alloys, Bluetooth, sony Dab, seat trays ... "thingy"!!!

Sorry for jumping in here, just read the long range weather forcast for February/March 2012 and it looks like KOC members in the North at least will be able to find out just how good Kuga's AWD really is, I know, I know weather predictions for this Winter have been extemely unreliable so perhaps the link below should be taken with more than a pinch of salt for melting snow.

This is also EXACTLY why I bought a 163 AWD Kuga, if you want 2wd, there are many cars out there that do 2wd far far better for the money, albeit at a lower ride height.

Alex.
