By the looks of my 19”Bridgestone tyres, it won’t be too long before I have to bite the bullet and replace them.

I have been contemplating replacing the 235-45-19 with the slightly higher profile 235-50-19.

The latter is both cheaper and more readily available.

Apart from slightly larger rolling radius that will mean the speedo will show 31at 30mph and 82.5 at 80mph and given that speedo’s are usually a bit slow anyhow, I don’t see the difference being a big problem. But,

Would the larger radius tyre affect anything else?

With the ongoing problems I'm having with the road noise on my 19" Bridgestones, my Ford dealer is talking about replacing my 19" alloys with 18" Alloys from another Kuga.
Is this a good thing? I can see that this may make the ride smoother (I read on this forum that the 19"s tend to make the ride harsher)
Can anyone tell me what size/profile/width tyres are on 18" alloys so I can compare prices for future replacements?
With comments from any fellow Kuga owners and also taking into account such things as tyre prices, I'd like to work out if changing to 18" alloys would be a wise move...
Any help appreciated

Kuga 18" alloys take 235/50 x 18" rubber.

I am just over 27,000 miles on my original Goodyears - I have no idea what tyre would cost - I reckon I will be selling the car before the tyres wear out!!

The 18" have been very comfortable, and I have not seen any corrosion whatsoever. I do have a set of 18" alloys that I have used this last 6 seeks - but they were kerbed to h3ll and back before I bought them. Didn't care though - they were just for winter use anyway.

Cheers,
Niall

The Kuga was shod with 235 50 18 in contintal rubber on the 18" when left the factory. I have replaced my fronts last year with Pirelli nero zeros, and have not noticed any difference in grip of road noise. The only big difference was the £50 between the two brands.

Dealer phoned and has confirmed he has a set of 18" alloys with Goodyear rubber, so I'm gonna bite the bullet and take them in exchange for my 19"ers with Bridgestones. Hope I'm doing the right thing.....

I'm on 18" alloys now. Considerably quieter! Whilst I prefer the look of the 19"s the 18"s aren't bad looking either.
